Trick or Treat on Main Street

The twins are all ready for next Saturday morning when all the good little ghouls and gobblins will gather for Trick or Treat on Main Street! On Saturday, October 30th at 11am the Halloween Parade will begin at the Farmers Market. There will be costume prizes, goodies and a hallo-weenie lunch for the little ones in costume.

Our twins didn't want to be left out of the fun so they donned their masks and got their bags so they could snag some goodies too!

Marinade Class

We had a great time with Dawnita Phillips last night learning about marinades. In fact, we were having so much fun; that we forgot to give the attendees their gifts! If you attended the class, please stop by and pick up your lovely "Balance Kitchen Tool" from Trudeau. It's a $9.95 value-so it's worth the trip!

Thanks to Dawnita for the delicious chicken, pork and beef. AND for the great stories! Who else has already re-told her Mother-in-Law story?

Mexican Food with Chris

We had a great time cooking Mexican food with Chris Maycumber last Thursday night. The food was spicy and delicious and Chris showed us some classic preparations that we can use with his recipes and with our own creations.
Thanks, Chris!

Last Tasty Tuesday

Tomorrow is a very big day here at life+style. While the Farmer's Market continues through October, tomorrow will be our last Tasty Tuesday of the season. October 19th is the Friends of Fort Scott fundraising dinner and October 26th is The Taste of Home-we hope you'll join us for both of these exciting events! We've really enjoyed our Tuesday evening get-togethers; and tomorrow promises to be exceptional! Michael Richardson, chef at Cottey College and cookbook author will be joining us to sign copies of his book and chat about food, entertaining, cooking, etc. We'll have some of his pumpkin swirl loaf to sample and of course some great Spice Merchant coffee to go with it. So join us tomorrow from 4 to 7 pm and celebrate good cooking and good friends with us!

Happy Birthday Lil!

What a blast! Lil and nine of her best friends stopped by Fort Scott today to celebrate her 80th birthday-Fort Scott will never be the same! It was an honor to play host to this wonderful group of women with a serious mission-to have fun! By the time we saw the group, they had already brunched at Lyons and taken the Trolley tour. They had already started shopping Main Street when they stopped to take a coffee break here at life+style. Iced tea and cookies all around while Lil opened more than twenty gifts! She had a total of 80 to open during the day and she had already gone through 30. I think she was saving the last 30 for the Buffalo Grill-look out Jeh and Logan!

Taste of Fort Scott

It was just two short years ago that Jim and I spent a frantic week looking for a new home here in Fort Scott. We didn't find one on that trip and ended up choosing our home on line, but the weather was so beautiful and we were welcomed by everyone, so we knew we had made the right decision to move here. Toward the end of our busy week we attended"A Taste of Fort Scott" and were very impressed with this wonderful event. We spent time chatting with Alan and Jackie Warren that night and of course Martha and Jim Scott made us feel right at home.

We will be attending "Forks and Corks-A Taste of Fort Scott" tomorrow night; but this time as exhibitors. We're looking forward to seeing good friends and offering up our delicious chocolate-chip pecan and snickerdoodle cookies. And I'll bet we'll get an opportunity to try some yummy items from other exhibitors. We do eat well in Southeastern Kansas!

Come join us for this great event-for info go to www.fortscott.com

Holy Cow! (and goat!)

The first meeting of the life+style Cheese Club came to order yesterday afternoon. Three beautiful cheeses, Jim Scott running the show and lots of fun! Thanks to everyone for helping us inauguate this new service. It sounds like we will need two deliveries before the end of the year; so email your suggestions for cheeses. We'll let you know when your next chance to "get cheesy" comes up!
