Taste of Fort Scott

It was just two short years ago that Jim and I spent a frantic week looking for a new home here in Fort Scott. We didn't find one on that trip and ended up choosing our home on line, but the weather was so beautiful and we were welcomed by everyone, so we knew we had made the right decision to move here. Toward the end of our busy week we attended"A Taste of Fort Scott" and were very impressed with this wonderful event. We spent time chatting with Alan and Jackie Warren that night and of course Martha and Jim Scott made us feel right at home.

We will be attending "Forks and Corks-A Taste of Fort Scott" tomorrow night; but this time as exhibitors. We're looking forward to seeing good friends and offering up our delicious chocolate-chip pecan and snickerdoodle cookies. And I'll bet we'll get an opportunity to try some yummy items from other exhibitors. We do eat well in Southeastern Kansas!

Come join us for this great event-for info go to www.fortscott.com

Holy Cow! (and goat!)

The first meeting of the life+style Cheese Club came to order yesterday afternoon. Three beautiful cheeses, Jim Scott running the show and lots of fun! Thanks to everyone for helping us inauguate this new service. It sounds like we will need two deliveries before the end of the year; so email your suggestions for cheeses. We'll let you know when your next chance to "get cheesy" comes up!

Run, don't Walk...

...to the new breakfast/lunch spot at Lyons Twin Mansions! The south mansion is now open from 6am to 2 pm for breakfast and lunch. Our sneak preview was DELICIOUS! Smoked trout, Big Roosters, French press coffee; Tod has created a fabulous menu-woo-hoo! What a great place for a quiet meal, a business meeting or even a romantic, anniversary breakfast (Jim-did you get the hint?). I'm so happy to have another great locally owned business to send visitors to. Thanks, Lyons family!

Oops!

I didn't realize how the headline on the post below would sound. Tasty Tuesdays will continue through October, but I guess I consider September as fall, so I should have said something more appropriate!
Cindy from Sweet Repeats just brought me a yummy sounding recipe for Zucchini Chocolate Cake that we'll be trying this coming Tuesday, and of course Michael Richardson will be here October 12 to cook and sign his cookbook The Best of Cottey Cooking. We will not be having Tasty Tuesday on October 19 due to the Friends of the Fort event at the Liberty Theatre-we hope you'll join us there and support our National Historic Site!

Last Tasty Tuesday of the Summer

What a great party last night! We made some Roasted Potato and Tomato salad with fresh produce from the Farmer's Market. It was enjoyed by our wonderful group of regulars, some new folks and also special guest Michael Richardson, author of The Best of Cottey Cooking. This was Michael's first experience with Tasty Tuesday and our Farmer's Market. He called this morning to tell me how much he enjoyed his visit, and to set October 12 as the date for his book signing and stint as guest chef for Tasty Tuesday. So mark your calendar to stop by on your way to or from the Farmer's Market for a taste of one of Michael's recipes, and to get your cookbook signed!
